Hours before the scheduled Vijay Hazare Trophy semi-final clash between Jharkhand and Bengal, a fire broke out at a Dwarka hotel where former Indian skipper MS Dhoni’s team was staying.
Scheduled to play at Delhi’s Palam Stadium, the Jharkhand team was staying at ‘ITC Welcome hotel’ in Dwarka Sector 10. All the team members including MS Dhoni have been rescued and reportedly the match has been postponed until Saturday.
The match that was supposed to be held at the Airforce ground in Palam has been rescheduled at Feroz Shah Kotla till Friday after match referee Sanjay Verma announced the postponement.

Officials of Delhi fire services said that the fire has been brought under control. Around 30 fire tenders were sent to the spot. According to sources, team kits have been destroyed, although no other harm has been reported.
Dhoni along with his teammates was having breakfast at the team hotel, ITC Welcome, when they were evacuated on an SOS basis. Around 540 guests were staying at the hotel, according to police sources.

According to sources, the fire broke out at about 6:30 AM on Friday morning. The team was shortly supposed to leave for the match with Bengal when the players and the support staff was asked to hold back in there rooms.
Police said that the fire broke out in a Reliance showroom. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the cause of the fire.
