The tri-nation Nidahas tournament featuring India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh is all set to kick off from Tuesday in Colombo. India is seen as the favourites for winning the tournament where every team will face each other twice and the top two will advance to the final on March 18.
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma ahead of the first match against Sri Lanka said that anything can happen in a game of T20. The right-hand batsman who is captaining the team in the absence of Virat Kohli said that T20 format is quite unpredictable and the game can change in a span of one over.
Sharma compared the shortest format of cricket to English Premier League and said,’’ Some teams may be stronger, but anyone can win on a given day’’.
When asked about leading a second-string team, the 30-year old said, "I don't look at it that way that I don't have the full team. I'm very fortunate to get the opportunity to lead the team.
"Given the schedule nowadays and the amount of cricket we play, it’s important to look after players and give them enough rest when needed. Whenever I’ve been asked to put on the captaincy cap, it’s been an honour’’, added Sharma.
