Top Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami on Sunday termed wife Hasin Jahan's allegations as absolutely "shocking" and demanded a thorough investigation.
Speaking exclusively to News Nation, Shami said, “This (Allegations by wife) is absolutely shocking for me, I hope that the final decision will be made in my family and my daughter’s favour, and I cannot be termed guilty until the allegations are proved against me.”
Jahan, the estranged wife of the Indian pacer had leveled serious allegations against him. In series of Facebook posts, she had accused Shami of domestic violence, extramarital affairs, and sexual abuse.
Speaking about any previous incidents that caused the turmoil, Shami said, “Our last Social Media post was made on Holi and Hasin Jahan expressed all her good feelings to the media, so there is no question of bad history amongst us.”
When asked about all the evidence that his wife Hasin Jahan has put forward, the Indian paceman further added, “I won’t justify anything, the investigation team will do their work and judge me.”
Kolkata police have registered a case against Shami under the sections of the Indian Penal Code related to domestic violence, criminal intimidation, attempt to murder, and causing hurt with poison.
Following Jahan's allegations, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has withheld Mohammad Shami's central contract.
Shami’s Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Daredevils has also said that it was keeping a tab on the entire controversy and will take a call on allowing the Bengal speedster to join the camp only after taking legal opinion from the BCCI.
Mohammad Shami and Hasin Jahan has been married since 2014. This was Jahan's second marriage.
