In what is being dubbed as the revival of cricket in Pakistan, the World Eleven side shall take on the hosts in the first of the three-match T20 series at the Gaddafi Stadium on Tuesday.
The ICC has taken a path breaking step to revive cricket after eight long years in the South Asian country by sending out a World XI team comprising of top international cricketers led by Faf Du Plessis. The World XI team comprising 13 players from seven top cricket-playing nations landed in Lahore early Monday amid massive security, with Pakistan hoping the tour will end years of international isolation.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Najam Sethi and other officials were present at the Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore to welcome the World XI squad.
