New Delhi:

Seventeen-year-old Prithvi Shaw on Monday showcased a glimpse of his batting prowess as he became the youngest cricketer after Sachin Tendulkar to register a ton on debut in the Duleep Trophy.

The Mumbai-based batsman scored a mammoth 154 runs to power India Red to 317/5 on Day 1 of the Duleep Trophy final against India Blue being played in Lucknow.

Much like the 'Master Blaster' Sachin Tendulkar, Shaw had also scored a century on his Ranji Trophy debut earlier this year. Tendulkar, who started playing first class cricket at a young age, had scored centuries in the Ranji Trophy, Irani Trophy and Duleep Trophy before turning 18.

Shaw, like Tendulkar, had burst into the scene after setting a record in the prestigious Harris Shield school cricket tournament in Mumbai. Shaw who was 14 year-old at the time had scored a remarkable 546 off 330 balls while playing for Rizvi Springfield School.
