New Delhi:

The Board of control for Cricket in India (BCCI) acting president CK Khanna has requested the Board to donate at least 5 crore rupees to the CRPF jawans who were killed in the Pulwama terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday. CK Khanna while writing a letter to COA, office bearers, and state units expressed his emotions and termed the attack as ‘dastardly’.

“We are saddened and join our fellow Indian citizens in condemning the dastardly Pulwama terror attack,” said the acting president of BCCI CK Khanna.

He further went on requesting the Committee of Administrations (COA) to donate at least 5 crore rupees through appropriate government agencies.

“I request the Committee of Administrations (COA) the BCCI should contribute at least 5 crore rupees through appropriate government agencies to the families of the martyred soldiers,” the acting president further wrote.

The acting president, in his own capacity, will also be requesting the state associations and the Indian Premier League (IPL) owners to contribute their bit for the cause.

“I am also going to request the state associations and the respective Indian Premier League franchise owners to consider making contributions”

Khanna has also requested for a two-minute silence be observed during the first encounter of the bilateral series between India and Australia and in the forthcoming opening ceremony/inaugural match of Indian Premier League on Sunday.

"As a mark of respect to the Central Reserve Force personnel martyred in the terror attack, we should observe two-minute silence during the first-match of India vs Australia starting on February 24 and during the opening ceremony/inaugural match of Indian Premier League on March 23,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, the Cricket Club of India covered the portrait of former Pakistan cricketer and current Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan from their restraint gallery. It has been widely reported that a meeting will be held to remove his picture permanently.

The team Vidarbha has also donated their Irani Cup winning prize money to the families of CRPF jawans who were killed in the Pulwama Terror Attack.
