Indian Railways on Thursday facilitating Indian Women’s Cricket team for their 'sheroic' performance in world cup announced Rs 1.30 crore cash reward.
Apart from the cash prize, Indian captain Mithali Raj and semi-final victory star Harmanpreet Kaur will also be given the post of Gazetted Officers in Railways.
With two-third of India’s women cricket team comprising employees of Indian Railways, union minister Suresh Prabhu feels like a “proud father whose girls have done well”.
Speaking at a felicitation function to honour the Mithali Raj-led squad for its runners-up finish at the ICC World Cup, Prabhu said he is, in fact, confident that some years down the line people will ask “do men also play cricket?.”

The BCCI praising the good show of women in blue announced a sum of Rs 50 lakh for each player while individual performances didn’t go unnoticed either.
Chief Minister of Punjab, Amarinder Singh offered Harmanpreet Kaur post of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh.
