India's off spinning maestro Ravichandran Ashwin who has got into a habit of rewriting bowling records went past legendary left-arm spinner Bishen Singh Bedi's 266 career wickets in the second Test match being played against Australia at Bengaluru.

R Ashwin scalped Mitchell Starc on Day 4 of the second Test at Bengaluru to go past Bedi's record. Ashwin had earlier dismissed Australian wicket-keeper Matthew Wade for a duck to equal Bedi's career feat.

Ashwin took just 47 Tests to surpass Bedi's record. Bedi had taken 67 Tests to scalp 266 wickets. Earlier in the year, Ashwin became the fastest bowlers to scalp 250 test wickets. Ashwin has now broken into the top five Test wicket-takers list for India.

Anil Kumble with 619 wickets tops the list with allrounder Kapil Dev holding the second spot with 434 wickets.Harbhajan Singh is third on the list with 417 wickets and Zaheer Khan holds the fourth spot with 311 wickets.
