Ace off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin who has been the architect of India's many wins at home shall achieve a career milestone when he takes to the field in the first Test against Sri Lanka at Galle on Wednesday. Ashwin will become the 30th Indian player to complete a half century of Tests. Ashwin has been the spearhead of the Indian spin attack over the last five years. Ashwin has scalped close to 170 wickets in his last 25 Test matches.

The Indian spinner recently became the fastest bowler to reach the 250 Test wickets. The Tamil Nadu off-spinner reached the milestone in only his 45th match, a record which was previously held by Lillee. Now, Ashwin has 275 wickets, the most, from 49 Tests.

Ashwin will be playing his 50th Test, six years after making his debut against West Indies at New Delhi in 2011, and he will become the bowler with the highest number of wickets after 50 Tests. He will break former Australia fast bowler Dennis Lillee’s record of 262 wickets from 50 Test.
