Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma who turned 30 on Sunday could not have asked for a better Bday gift than his team Mumbai Indians registering a thrilling victory over Gujarat Lions in a nail-bitting Super-Over sealed by Jasprit Bumrah's wicket.
Mumbai were bowled out for 153 while chasing the exact score against the Lions after which a Super Over decided the fate of the match.
Rohit, who turned 30 today, cut a cake in the dressing room after the match and celebrated the win with his teammates in full flare.
In the Super Over, Mumbai posted 11 batting first, but Jasprit Bumrah was immaculate in his line and held his nerves to give nothing away to defend the target against Aaron Finch and Brendon McCullum.
"Very good birthday present, great game of cricket. Never been part of Super Over, that's something we have learnt as well," Rohit said at the post match presentation ceremony. Rohit further showered praises on man-of-the-match Krunal Pandya for maintaining his cooltill the end of Mumbai's chase.
"We got off to a good start, were sitting pretty until the 10th over, knew the wicket was getting slower and the target was going to be tough. We knew they would bowl well, losing wickets wasn't great, but Krunal did very well to stay till the end," he said.
