Indian opener Rohit Sharma produced an exhibition of belligerent hitting as he scored his third double hundred in One Day internationals. The hard hitting opener scaled the 200 mark in his whirlwind 208-run knock against Sri Lanka in the second ODI in Mohali.
Rohit hit an astonishing 12 sixes and 13 boundaries to decimate the Sri Lankan bowlers all over the park. Rohit's knock helped the hosts post a mammoth 392-run total. In the process, Sharma became the first captain to score a double ton in the history of ODI cricket.
Rohit holds the record for the highest score (in an innings) in limited overs cricket. Rohit scored 264 against Sri Lanka in 2014. The Mumbaiker also holds the record for hitting the most number of sixes (16) in an innings in ODI cricket.
It is notable that 'Master Blaster' Sachin Tendulkar was the first batsman in ODI history to register a double century. Besides Rohit Sharma, the other batsman who have achieved this herculean milestone are Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Martin Guptil and Chris Gayle.
