The upcoming series between West Indies and India, which will include three Twenty20 Internationals, three ODIs and two Tests is a new era for both sides. India will be aiming to build a core side for the next major event which will be the World T20 in 2020 while for the West Indies, it is a chance to continue their rebuilding stage after the end of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. The series will begin with the three Twenty20 Internationals, with two being played in Florida while the final match will be played in Guyana. The series gives a chance for Rohit Sharma to create the ultimate record in Twenty20 Internationals and boost his reputation as one of the biggest hitters in the limited-overs format.
Rohit needs four more sixes to break the world record for the most sixes in Twenty20 Internationals. The current record is held by Chris Gayle, the self-proclaimed Universe Boss and the best Twenty20 player in the world who has blasted 105 sixes in 58 games. Martin Guptill is next on the list with 103 while Rohit Sharma has hit 102 sixes in 94 Twenty20 Internationals.
Rohit is the favourite to break the record as Gayle will not be playing the three-match Twenty20 International series, with the left-hander on duty in the current Canadian Global T20 League. The Mumbai right-hander is the only player in Twenty20 International history to hit four centuries in the format, with Colin Munro smashing three centuries. Gayle and Brendon McCullum have hit two centuries.
