Legendary batsmen Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag formed one of the most destructive opening partnerships in ODI cricket history for a very long time on the field of cricket. Both the batsmen dominated world class bowlers in their heydeys and were highly instrumental in helping India reach the final of the 2003 ICC ODI World Cup.
Sehwag, the first Indian to hit a triple century in Test cricket, was an aggressive batsman who used to ease out the pressure of his teammates' shoulders. On the other hand, Tendulkar is widely regarded as the best batsman cricket has ever seen and has rewritten batting records with 100 international centuries.
The swashbuckling duo scored 3919 runs at a mesmerising average of 42.13 with 18 fifty-run and 12 hundred-run stands. Further, their highest partnership for the opening slot was 182 runs. Their path-breaking partnership played a pivotal role in helping India rise up the ICC rankings as an ODI team under maverick captain Sourav Ganguly.
