New Delhi:

Cricketing stalwarts Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara are set to come together on the cricketing field once again while attending the opening ceremony of the upcoming Brian Lara stadium in Trinidad and Tobago.

The event will witness the cricketing legends lead their respective XIs in a friendly match. It will be a multi-purpose stadium with high-tech facilities like an aquatic center, an Olympic-sized cycling velodrome, indoor gymnasium, school for the training of athletes, a large car park, new roads and other infrastructural works.

Further, areas have also been specially designed for the print, radio and television media.A controversy has been generated over naming a luxury suite at the Brian Lara stadium after Sachin Tendulkar as people opposing the move claim that such an honour should not be bestowed upon a foreign player.

Things had got so complicated that Trinidad and Tobago’s Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Darryl Smith had to announce that Tendulkar wouldn’t be coming for the inauguration due to “scheduling conflicts”, leading to much disappointment and dismay.

However, putting all speculations to rest, the Indian legend is set to be part of the friendly and the opening ceremony too.
