Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar on Sunday praised the Indian team’s Asia Cup 2018 victory in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by terming it as complete team effort while addressing the reporters during the IDBI Federal Life Insurance Mumbai Half Marathon Event at the Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai.
“I did not see all the matches. Whenever I see, I feel happy for the way we (Indian team) are performing”, Tendulkar told reporters here.
“I will give the credit to the whole team. Individuals come and perform well, some players play the series well, some players cannot perform as desired but eventually I’ll say that I feel happy after seeing the team effort,” Tendulkar added.
The Rohit Sharma-led Men in Blue clinched the final victory after defeating Bangladesh by three wickets in a last ball, nail-biter to lift the Asia Cup trophy. This was a historic team for Team India as it was the seventh time that India have lifted Asia’s biggest cricketing trophy.
Was at @IDBIFed’s @MumbaiHM and the atmosphere here was absolutely electrifying. I can always count on my city to show up, ready and raring to go. Come on, #KeepMovingMumbai! pic.twitter.com/cYNVmkgwW5— Sachin Tendulkar (@sachin_rt) September 30, 2018
“I would like to congratulate everyone. Eventually what you want is a good team effort and that the team has performed well,” said Tendulkar.
The Little Master also advised the people of India to stay fit and healthy.
“...the bigger picture what we are looking at is the good health of India, getting used to living a healthy lifestyle, looking after your health and staying fit.
“I was brought up by my grandmother who used to say that your health is your real wealth and the same message I would like to give to the entire nation. Look after your health and stay fit,” he said.
