Shaheen Afridi's fielding struggles highlighted the uphill task for Pakistan in the Day Night Test in Adelaide against Australia.

New Delhi:

Pakistan are facing an uphill task in the Pink Ball Test against Australia in Adelaide. David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne slammed back-to-back centuries and have put the hosts in command. Warner slammed his 23rd ton and Labuschagne his second ton to help Australia reach 302/1 on a rain-affected day in Adelaide. Pakistan's bowling lacked penetration but it was their fielding which let them down badly and this was epitomised by Shaheen Afridi not once but twice. The first instance involved Warner and the bowler was offspinner Iftikhar Ahmed.

The bowler bowled a short and wide delivery outside off and Warner rocked back and cut it to deep cover. Shaheen ran the wrong way and could not spot the ball as it went to the boundary. The bowler indicated that he was not able to spot the ball in the outfield. The second instance was even more hilarious. Warner was once again the batsman and Yasir Shah, the legspinner was the bowler. The batsman drilled a flighted ball to deep extra cover and Shaheen ran after the ball to collect it.

However, as he bent down, his foot kicked the ball past the boundary and he had his hand on his hips. The effort resulted in massive trolling for Shaheen, with many social media users commenting that Shaheen was playing Aussie rules football and not cricket in Adelaide. The current stand between Warner and Labuschagne is the best for the second wicket in a Test in Adelaide while it is also the best for the current stand against Pakistan in the format. Commenting after the end of the day, Labuschagne said batting with Warner was surreal.

"It is just amazing to be out here with Davey and to put on another big partnership, really happy with that. We run hard and almost run myself out there at the back end, but lovely intensity at the crease and I love fighting hard for runs, its fun," Labuschagne said.
