Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that Shardul Thakur will replace in-form Bhuvneshwar Kumar in India's squad for 3rd test against New Zealand.
Bhuvneshwar has been ruled out of the third and final Test of the ongoing series against New Zealand after sustaining a back strain in the second Test at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Thakur is yet to play a Test match for India. In 2015-16 Ranji Trophy final, he took eight wickets against the Saurashtra cricket team and led Mumbai cricket team to win its 41st Ranji Trophy title. The Mumbai seamer earned his first call-up to the squad during India's tour of the West Indies in July-August.
