Senior BJP leader Subramanian Swamy‏ has challenged manual auction of IPL Media Rights for TV and digital given to Star conglomerate in Supreme Court.

Swamy said the apex court has permitted him to file an internal arbitrary application on his writ petition in which he alleged that IPL Chairman Rajeev Shukla had financial relations with Star TV of America.

Swamy alleged, “Shukla got over 100 Cr in Ad revenue which was collected by Star TV for him.”

Swamy accused the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) of favouring Star TV by giving it the broadcasting rights through a manual auction.

"BCCI was so insistent to go ahead with manual auction shows they were implementing plan to favor Star TV," Swamy told ANI.

Star India had bagged the IPL media rights for TV and digital broadcast worth Rs 16,347.50 crore with a single consolidated bid worldwide for the next five years (2018-2022).
