Watch: Luke Fletcher smashed on head during Natwest T20 Blast game, hospitalised

In a horrific incident, Nottinghamshire bowler Luke Fletcher suffered a serious-looking head injury in a Natwest T20 Blast match against Birmingham on Saturday.

The delirious incident happened on the first ball of the fourth over of Birmingham inning when a straight drive from Sam Hain directly smashed on Fletcher's head leaving him grounded in pain.

Immediately, physio was rushed in while co-players surrounded Luke who was sitting on the ground with his head down.

Luke got back consciousness minutes later and walked out of the ground with the help of physiologist.

The game has been delayed for good 10-15 minutes as the players from both teams were in shock and waited for some time to gather their senses back.

Fletcher was shifted to hospital where his situation is being told out of danger.

Fellow cricketer Jake Ball twitted a picture of Fletcher, who was wearing a mask and showing thumbs up sign.

Notts Outlaws head coach Peter Moores after the incident said, "Luke has obviously got a concussion but the reports we're hearing back are that they think he's going to be fine and hopefully he will go home either tonight or tomorrow morning. It sounds good news at the moment and we're looking forward to catching up with him when he's back and hopefully OK."
