Hail King Kohli – History-making machine: Twitter goes berserk in tribute

Virat Kohli became the fastest to 10,000 runs, making him the toast of Twitter

Virat Kohli had a record-breaking evening in the Vizag ODI against West Indies when he shattered Sachin Tendulkar’s record of being the fastest to 10,000 ODI runs. Kohli achieved this feat in 205 innings, 54 quicker than the mark set by Tendulkar.

After getting to the landmark, Kohli opened up and registered his 37th century and continued to break records in the process. He registered his fourth 150+ score in ODIs, to become the only individual in history to score 1000+ runs in both Tests and ODIs for two consecutive calendar years.

Despite his knock, India could only tie the game against West Indies but that did not stop Twitter from going berserk in praising Kohli. From Virender Sehwag to Sachin Tendulkar and Rishabh Pant, young and old, legends and modern dashers, Twitterati was full of praise for King Kohli.

Apart from the two major milestones, Kohli achieved plenty of other records along the way. He blasted 1000 runs in a calendar year in ODIs for the sixth time out of his 10 playing years. He overtook Tendulkar’s record of most runs in ODIs against West Indies, surpassing his mark of 1573 runs. He also went past 4000 ODI runs at home, once again breaking Tendulkar’s feat.

With so many records broken in a single day, Kohli has shown that he is the King of Cricket when it comes to rewriting the history books.
