It was amazing year for India’s Test skipper Virat Kohli. After defeating South Africa and Sri Lanka the Indian skipper was at cloud nine, but the icing on the cake was Cricketer of the Year award by BCCI.
Before leaving for Australia tour, the BCCI today awarded Virat Kohli with Cricketer of the Year award and Mithali Raj was picked for the top women’s award.
The 27-year-old batsman, who took over as captain in the middle of the tour of Australia after MS Dhoni’s suddenly declared his retirement.
The Delhi boy scored 640 runs in 15 Test innings with an average of 42.67 and in limited overs he managed 623 runs in 20 ODIs.
On the other hand, Mithali Raj became the first Indian woman and second overall to complete 5,000 runs in ODI format this year.
Former wicketkeeper Syed Kirmani was also presented the Col. CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award.
Karnataka State Cricket Association has awarded the state association of the year for claiming Ranji Trophy, Irani Cup and Vijay Hazare Trophy in the season.
For his wonderful performance, Karnataka’s Robin Uthappa has been picked for the Madhavrao Scindia Award for being the highest run-scorer in Ranji Trophy. Karnataka’s R Vinay Kumar and Mumbai’s Shardul Thakur, both shared the best wicket takers award.
