The Indian cricket team are on the cusp of a series win in a Test series Down Under. Virat Kohli’s side are on the cusp of achieving something special in the fourth and final Test which will be held in Sydney, a venue where India have had several memorable moments and not so memorable moments. Kohli’s side won two Tests in a series in Australia for the first-time ever and they have the chance to go one better and secure a famous series win. Australia, on the other hand, will be determined to come back on level terms and maintain their 100 percent record of not losing a series at home to an Asian nation. Ahead of the Sydney Test, here are some of the numbers which will be of interest to Indian cricket fans, Australian spectators and Virat Kohli.

1 – Number of Tests won by India at the Sydney Cricket Ground. They last won a match here in 1978 by an innings and two runs.

8 – Number of years since Australia last lost a Test in Sydney. In the 2011 game against England, they lost by an innings and 83 runs to lose a series against England after 24 years.

3 – Number of 500+ scores in Sydney by India. Their second-highest Test score at this venue was 705/7 declared in 2004. India hit 600/4 declared in the 1986 Test while they smashed 532 in 2008 in a match known for the ‘Monkeygate’ scandal.

56 – Virat Kohli’s average in Sydney. He smashed 147 in the fourth and final Test in 2015 as the game ended in a draw.

5 – Number of Indian bowlers who have taken a five-wicket haul in Sydney. Mohammed Shami picked up 5/112 in 2015 while Anil Kumble has the best figures with 8/141 in the 2004 game. Kapil Dev (1981), Karsan Ghavri (1981) and Shivlal Yadav (1986) are the others to take a five-wicket haul.

7 – Number of batsmen who have scored centuries at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman have hit three centuries at this venue while Ravi Shastri, Kris Srikkanth, Mohinder Amarnath, Sunil Gavaskar and Kohli are the others.
