Afghanistan’s cricket sensation Rashid Khan has become one of the most popular name among cricket fans especially India.
Now, his Indian fans have come out on Twitter requesting the External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to grand him Indian citizenship.
Acknowledging the fascination of cricket lovers across the nation, Minister of External Affairs of India, Sushma Swaraj responded the fans and tweeted “I have seen all the tweets. Citizenship matters are dealt with by Ministry of Home affairs’’.
This is not the first time Sushma Swaraj has acknowledged Afghanistan’s cricketer worldwide. Last year when Afghanistan earned Test status, Sushma Swaraj came out and praised the team spirit.
She said, “The fact that Afghanistan attained the status of a Test- playing cricketing nation is a testament to the indomitable spirit of the people of Afghanistan to not let the forces of death and destruction prevail’’.
Rashid Khan has out-performed all throughout the Indian Premier League edition of 2018, especially in the Finals when he went for just 24 runs in four overs bowled with nine dot balls.
It will be interesting to see whether Rashid Khan gets Indian citizenship or not or he takes his home team to new heights worldwide.
Somebody please give Rashid Khan an Indian Citizenship! That man deserves to play more international cricket! Afghanistan has a legendary player in the making! #SRHvKKR #rashidkhan #IPL2018 @IPL
