Zimbabwe stunned Sri Lanka by chasing down a mammoth 317-run target in the first one-day international played at Galle on Friday. Skipper Sikandar Raza finished off the match in scintillating style with a six.

The visitors took a 1-0 lead in the five-match series after the win in Galle. Solomon Mire’s maiden ODI century off just 85 balls was the architect of Zimbabwe's stunning win. Mire put on a 122-run stand with Williams from 22.3 over. Once they fell to Asela Gunaratne, Sikandar and Waller took over and shared an unbeaten 102-run stand off 80 balls to take their team across the line. Raza scored 67* off just 51 balls while Waller made 40* off 29 balls.

Zimbabwe captain Graeme Cremer said the win was a huge confidence booster."To chase down a score like that, to post our first win here was amazing."Cremer called Mire "a real asset to the team, not just with the bat but also with the ball. He's lovely to watch."
