New Delhi:

Liverpool scored three second-half goals as they completed their pre-season tour of America with an astounding 4-1 win over Manchester United at Michigan Stadium on Sunday.

New signing Xherdan Shaqiri had a Liverpool debut to remember as he scored a stunning bicycle-kick to wrap up the scoring in the International Champions Cup game in front of 1,01,000 present in the stadium.

"That's not normal after 4 days - adapting so quickly to our style of play," said Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp about Shaqiri’s stunner after the match.

Swiss international, Shaqiri is one of the five new signings for Liverpool as they spent more than 200 million pound in the transfer window to close the gap on Premier League champions Manchester City.

"I always train on the bicycle kicks. It was a perfect ball in and a beautiful goal," said jubilant Shaqiri after the game.

“We wanted to help him a little bit with the position so that it's not too complicated, gave him a lot of freedom, offensively playing natural, plus offering runs in behind, which is what he did, especially around the Sturridge goal,” Klopp added.

It was a great US tour for the Reds as they now travel back to Merseyside before concluding their preparations with a training camp in France beginning next week.

“It was better than I would have expected, to be honest. I think today it was a game where it was quite easy to come in for pretty much all of them because we played over 90 minutes of really good football on a very difficult pitch for both teams,” the Reds’ manager said.

Senegal international Sadio Mane calmly converted a penalty to open the scoring for the Merseyside team in the 28th minute.

Manchester United’s 22-year-old midfielder Andreas Pereira tied the game 1-1 in the 31st minute off a free kick.

However, Klopp’s Liverpool dominated the second half as Daniel Sturridge started the rout with a 66th-minute strike.

Sheyi Ojo then continued the scoring in the 74th minute, but it was Shaqiri who stole the show as he brought the packed stadium to the edge of their seats eight minutes later with his ripper of an overhead kick from a nice feed from Ben Woodburn.
