Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo missed an open tap-in goal on his Allianz Stadium debut that later turned out to be an accidental assist for fellow striker Mario Mandzukic as the Seria A defending champions beat Lazio 2-0 on Saturday. The Bianconeri, who are chasing their eighth consecutive title, have six points in their bag from two games but their new superstar from Real Madrid is still goal-less after the first two games.

“It’s only two weeks that he’s with us,” Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri said after the game assuring the fans that the former Real Madrid goal-machine will come good with time.

Miralem Pjanic handed Juventus the lead in the 30th-minute mark with a rocket of a shot from outside of the penalty box before Mario Mandzukic directed the second goal home after it ricocheted off Ronaldo in the 75th minute.

Ronaldo was obviously disappointed as he threw his hands in utter disbelief but later turned to Mandzukic to celebrate.

Cristiano Ronaldo signed for Juventus from Real Madrid for a reported fee of £99.2million ending a massively successful spell with the Spanish giants in which he won eight major trophies and five Ballon d’Ors.
