Durand Cup: Gokulam Kerala defeat East Bengal on penalties to enter final

Gokulam Kerala beat East Bengal in penalty-shootout to make it to the final of Durand Cup on Wednesday. Both teams were locked 1-1 at the end of normal and extra time. 

East Bengal had taken the lead thorugh Samad Mallick and were looking set to reach the final. However, Gokulam Kerala FC staged a late comeback in the match after scoring the equaliser in the injury time of the normal time.  

Some sloppy work by the Kolkata side saw them gift a penalty in added time. Gokulam Kerala's Joseph Marcus converted from the spot extend the match. Both teams failed to find the goal in the extra time.

Gokulam Kerala's Ubaid pulled off two saves in the penalty-shootout to script an emphatic victory. They will face the winner of the semifinal between Mohun Bagan and Real Kashmir in the title clash.
