Mali advanced themselves to the semifinals after defeating Ghana 2-1 in a FIFA U-17 World Cup quarterfinal match at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati on Saturday.
Hadji Drame and Djemoussa Traore scored 1-1 goal each to make their way to the semis in a nail-biting match. However, Ghana tried their best to reduce the margin with Kudus Mohammed scoring the only goal for his team in the 70th minute.
Last edition’s runners-up Mali started on an attacking note with Lassana N’diaye finding the ball at his feet in a dangerous position on two different occasions, but Ghana’s defence was equal to the task.
