The Footvolley Association of India has recently announced names of two Maharashtra players, Cajetan Dias and Kundan Chandra, who will be representing India at the Rio 2016 Footvolley World Tournament.
The tournament will be held from tomorrow till August 28 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Rio 2016 Footvolley World Tournament is a demo game conducted under observation of International Olympic Committee (IOC).
The competition will be held in the offficial beach stadium of the Olympic Games of Copacabana Beach, a media release issued here said.
Dias and Chandra are both national level football players and have played in the Santosh Trophy, it said. FootVolley uses physical techniques of football and the play is allowed with everything but the hands and arms ? with beach volleyball rules.
It is usually played with two players on each side of the net and each team has to alternate their passing between the two players. The ball can be touched three times at most before it has to go over the net, the release said.
