Liverpool are expected to smash transfer record to sign Virgil van Dijk with a whopping £50million price. He is currently with Southampton FC and has played for them 63 times since he joined the club in 2015.
Competition for his signature hots up as Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Everton are also in the race to sign the 25-year-old Netherlands international.
Talking about the history, Liverpool paid £35million to Newcastle United for Andy Carroll in January 2011. It was the biggest bid by Liverpool till the time news about Van Dijk came.
It is to be noted that Liverpool are not in a mood to go down to money for Van Dijk. If things go like, he will become the club’s highest wage earner.
One of the greatest defenders in the world, Van Dijk has not featured in the Champions League following an ankle injury since January.
