“Welcome Ciro!!! Thank God, everything went perfectly. He and his mummy are doing very well. We are super happy!!!” wrote Messi on his Instagram account.
After withdrawing from the squad to face Malaga, Argentine forward Lionel Messi has announced the arrival of his third child Ciro Messi on Saturday.
Earlier it was reported that Messi will not make the trip to Malaga due to ‘Personal Reason’, with new signing Yerry Mina taking his place in the squad.
The Argentine announced in October of 2017 that his childhood partner and wife Antonella was pregnant again, leading to rumours that it was the reason for his absence from the squad.
Messi, who already had two sons, Mateo and Thiago named his third son Ciro.
Although Messi is a massive absence from the Barcelona squad, but the Catalan side already have plenty of firepower on their bench with French youngster Ousmane Dembele is likely to take his place in the starting XI.
The Camp Nou side is well on course to be crowned the La Liga champions with having a lead of eight points between them and second placed Atletico Madrid, while Real Madrid is in third spot.
Messi has been in spectacular form again this season with 32 goals in 41 appearances.
