Spanish prosecutors have demanded two-year sentence for Barcelona forward Neymar in alleged fraud committed during his signing for FC Barcelona between 2011 and 2013.
Prosecutors have also asked for five-year prison sentence for ex-Barca boss Sandro Rosell, and have also requested that the club pay a €8.4 million (R126 million) fine.
The case originates from a complaint by Brazilian investment group DIS, which owned Neymar’s 40% transfer rights. The investment group alleged that it had received less money than it was entitled to from transfer fee.
Rosell resigned as the club’s president in 2014 for his role in the affair and testified in court in February alongside Bartomeu, Neymar and Neymar’s father.
The Brazilian star has helped the Camp Nou outfit in securing two La Liga titles, two Copa del Rey trophies, the Champions League, the European Super Cup, the Spanish Super Cup and the Club World Cup.
He signed a new five-year contract with Barcelona in October.
