French authorities, acting on a tip by UEFA, have started a probe for a possible match-mixing incident during the Champions League group stage match between Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Red Star Belgrade.

“A few days before the meeting, the European confederation received a report according to which a senior leader of the Serbian club intended, with accomplices, to place several million euros on a defeat of his own team by five goals,” reported a French leading daily.

As per the report, a senior member from the Serbian club had placed several millions against his own team to lose by five goals, and the result ended by a margin of 5 goals.

The UEFA Champions League match ended as a thumping 6-1 victory for Thiago Silva and co.

Brazilian megastar Neymar scored a sensational hattrick, while Kylian Mbappe, Angel Di Maria and Edinson Cavani scored a goal each in a match against the Serbian club Red Star Belgrade.

The Ligue 1 giants PSG sits comfortably at the top of the French first division by winning all their 9 games.
