Liverpool looked in control but United roll back the years with a late charge. Fellaini won a header and flicked an effort off the post. United pressed Liverpool deep, Fellaini's header hit the post initially, then Valencia retrieved and crossed for Ibrahimovic, leaning backwards, to head in off the bar.
In the first half, the game revolved around Paul Pogba. He missed United’s best chance at 0-0, dragging wide, before clumsily handling inside the area under no pressure.
Milner converted from the spot. It was an intriguing game with United arguably shading it. Mignolet denied both Ibrahimovic and Mkhitarayan.
