Jammu and Kashmir will host the 17th All India Police Golf Tournament at the famous Royal Spring Golf Course here from October 8-10.
"The 17th All India Police Golf Tournament will be hosted by Jammu and Kashmir Police. The tournament being held in Srinagar would begin from October 8 and conclude on October 10, 2013," Director General of Police (DGP), Ashok Prasad said while chairing a meeting of senior police functionaries at Armed Police Headquarters on Tuesday.
The DGP said that 100 players from 26 teams representing various states and central police organisations of the country would participate in the three-day long tournament.
Jammu and Kashmir Police is hosting the national event for the third time and earlier the tournament was held in Srinagar in 2002 and 2005, he said.
The organisation has been hosting various national sports events in different disciplines including All India Police Football Championship, All India Police Wrestling Cluster and National Athletic Meet.
All these national championships are held under the aegis of All India Police Sports Control Board, he said. The meeting discussed various issues to ensure the required arrangements for the tournament are put in place, the spokesman said.
He said the DGP stressed upon the officers to work in close coordination and utilise previous experiences for making the event a success.
Prasad also invited golf lovers to witness the competition between national level players.
