The 2016 Men's Hockey Junior World Cup shall be held in Lucknow, India from December 8 to December 16. The tournament shall be the 11th edition of the Men's Hockey Junior World Cup.
The Hockey Junior World Cup, is an international field hockey competition organised by the International Hockey Federation (FIH). The first edition of the tournament was held in1979.
Since 1985 it has been held every four years. Competitors must be under the age of 21 as of December 31 in the year before the tournament is held.
Fifteen of the sixteen teams participating in the tournament have qualified for the event by securing berths in their continental championships. Hosts India has automatically qualified for the event as hosts.
The sixteen teams have been divided into four groups comprising of four teams each.
