Hockey World League Semi-final: India thrash Pakistan by 7-1

India defeated Pakistan by 7-1 in an all-round show in the World Hockey League semi-final played in London on Sunday. India might have been outplayed by Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy final but in the other sport Hockey, India completely thrashed arch rivals.

Hero of the Junior World Cup, Harmanpreet Singh scored the first goal on a penalty corner in the first quarter of the match.

In the 21st minute of the game, Indian forward prepared a brilliant set piece and Talvinder Singh utilised the stage to score the second goal of the match. Talvinder Singh then scored another goal in the 24th minute to make the lead by 3-0 by the end of first half. 

Indian players continued to dominate the game in the second half as well and Harmanpreet scored his second goal in the 33rd minute. India maintained the  4-0 lead until the end of 4th quarter.  

In the last quarter Indian team in a coordinated attack successfully went past Pakistani defence and Akashdeep utilised the lead to score 5th goal. In the 49th minute of the game, Pradeep Mor scored his first goal of the match to stretch the lead by 6-0.

In the last three minutes of the game, Md Umar Bhatt of Pakistan opened the account for his team but it was too late for the green brigade as India was leading by 6-1. But Akashdeep, a minute later scored his second goal of the match.

India thrashed Pakistan 7-1 with three goals in the first half and four in the second to hand the perennial rivals a miserable outing.
