Achieving a major milestone, the Indian Women's Hockey team has emerged victorious at the 4th Woman's Asian Champions Trophy hockey tournament by defeating China by 2-1.
The tournament which concluded in Singapore saw a great game of hockey in the final where the Indian woman held their nerves to clinch the trophy. Ace striker Deepika emerged as the pick of player after scoring the winning goal in the final few minutes of the match.
With just 20 seconds left before the final time, Deepika put the ball in the goal post with a sharp shot thorough a penalty corner which also proved penultimate for the Indian team.
Earlier in the match Deep Grace Ekka's penalty corner turned goal in the 13th minute of the match gave India a 1-0 lead in the match after the end of the first quarter.
With some good passes, the Indian team maintained their lead over the opposition by the end of Half time. But the Chinese team turned the tables after scoring a goal to level the score soon after the half time in the third quarter.

The final quarter took game down to the wire with every single pass and flick; it was the final minute of the match which decided the winner of the auspicious final.
This victory brought double joy for the country after the men's hockey team also emerged victorious at the Asian Champions Trophy beating Pakistan 3-2 in the final held on October 30.
PM Narendra Modi also took to twitter to congratulate the team.
