New Delhi:

In the recently concluded five-match ODI series against England, Pakistan lost 4-0 has eventually resulted in three major changes to their bowling arsenal for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. Inzamam-ul-Haq, the chief selector, announced the final 15-man squad for the mega event as Pakistan made three changes to the preliminary side. Amir’s inclusion though looked inevitable after the way the bowlers were taken away for plenty of runs by the English batters on flat pitches.

The 27-year-old wasn’t the part of the provisional squad announced last month. However, Amir was given a last chance to prove his mettle in the England series and picked in the extended squad for the tour. Unfortunately, the pacer fell ill ahead of the second ODI after the first game was washed out and never recovered. He was down with the suspected chicken pox and many felt that his dream to play the World Cup will vanish again.

Elated with the inclusion in the World Cup squad, Mohammad Amir took to his official Twitter handle to express his happiness and felt proud to be part of the team. “Allhamdulilah, humbled and proud to be part of the Pakistan WC squad InshAllah going to give 100% and we all will try and make our nation proud, thank u all for ur support and endless duas we all need them more now. #pakistanZindabad,” his tweet read.

Moreover, Mohammad Amir has also fully recovered from his illness now and is expected to join the squad on May 22 in Bristol. The two warm-up matches against Afghanistan and Bangladesh will be crucial for him now and prove his match fitness.
