The ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 clash will witness the ultimate marquee clash between India and Pakistan. The historic rivalry, combined with the prevailing tensions and hostility currently between the two countries, makes this contest electrifying. With both countries not playing bilateral series frequently with each other, there is an added novelty to this contest which will take place in Old Trafford, Manchester. However, there is a major problem heading into the clash between India and Pakistan at Old Trafford. The same problem that has wreaked havoc in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 clash might dampen the ultimate clash for the fans.

Rain, which has destroyed most of the games in the second week of the tournament, is expected to play a major part in Manchester on Sunday. The forecast for Sunday is not good, with 60 per cent chances of rain. In the build-up to the game, there have been some showers but on Sunday, there will be steady rain the likes of which was witnessed in Trent Bridge. If one has to look at it positively, there are chances that the weather might remain cloudy and there might not be much rain.

As an added disclaimer, the weather in England could change rapidly. The weather forecasts are never 100 per cent accurate when it comes to the weather in England. However, in the case of Trent Bridge and Bristol, it was accurate while for Taunton, it was not.

The rain has played havoc in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 with three games getting washed out. The Pakistan vs Sri Lanka clash and Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh clash in Bristol have all been washed out due to the rain. In fact, even a toss could not take place and this became the first World Cup in which two games were washed out without a ball being bowled. The South Africa vs West Indies clash in Southampton was also washed out but 7.3 overs were bowled in the Proteas innings.

New Zealand is currently on top of the table while India is in the third spot. Looking at the weather situation, the billions of fans and the ICC will be praying that the rain stays away and does not spoil what is dubbed to the ‘ultimate’ cricket match. If the match is washed out, the ICC could face even more flak in the coming days.
