The 18th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 between India and New Zealand at Trent Bridge has been officially called off as the two teams share a point each. There were many inspections by the two on-field umpires, but nothing actually helped to turn a wet outfield and drizzle into a game. With this, four out of 18 World Cup 2019 games have been called off. However, the major concern for the team is Shikhar Dhawan’s thumb injury, which has ruled him out of the next two games against Pakistan and Afghanistan in addition to the game against New Zealand. India’s batting coach Sanjay Bangar has said Dhawan will take close to 10-12 days to recover and Vijay Shankar is being viewed as one of the options. (READ HERE IN HINDI)

18:36 hrs IST: Rain continues to get heavy, no signs of getting better. Official verdict on the match to be announced soon.Â
18:15 hrs IST:Â The rain is extremely heavy at the moment, possibly the heaviest it's been all day. Not good signs for both the teams as they will have to share a point each if it continues to rain.Â
17:50 hrs IST: Good news! Covers are coming off AGAIN!Â
17:28 hrs IST:Â

15:57 hrs IST: Good news for fans! Just three minutes before the inspection time, the covers at Trent Bridge are coming off. Almost everyone will be hoping that there's no further rain delay. New inspection time to be out soon.Â

15:32 hrs IST:Â

15:30 hrs IST:Â A new update regarding the inspection -Â it shall be at 11:30 local, 16:00 IST.
15:27 hrs IST: Live pictures show quite a few damp patches, and even if the rain stops, there isn't any sunlight or breeze to dry the ground. It is becoming unlikely to have a full 50-over game.Â
15:22 hrs IST:Â All the covers bar the main hover cover, have been taken off. Groundsmen are busy with the repair job.
15:10 hrs IST: The drizzle is steady. The covers are on but apparently there is an inspection at 15:30 hrs IST. How on earth will the umpires inspect when there is a drizzle is beyond me. But, there are rules and regulations to be followed one feels.
15:03 hrs IST: It is no longer a drizzle. It is now a downpour. The rain is lashing Trent Bridge and the covers are coming back on. This is not a good sign.
14:49 hrs IST: Uh-oh. Not what is needed. The drizzle has returned and the covers are back.
14:43 hrs IST: There will be a pitch inspection at 3:00 PM IST but there are some spots of rain. The drizzle might return and one does not know what will be the future course of the match. The lack of sun has resulted in the outfield not drying fast enough.
14:28 hrs IST: The BCCI have tweeted that there will be an inspection at 15:00 hrs IST. So, the toss will definitely be delayed. The main cover has also been removed.
14:22 hrs IST: The main pitch cover is also coming off. So, for the moment, the match is probably starting on time.
Update - If there is no further rain, there will be an inspection at 10.30 AM local time#CWC19

14:12 hrs IST: The weather is cloudy currently but there is actually a weather advisory issued. There is rain expected after 7:00 PM IST.
14:05 hrs IST: More good news apparently coming in. Still not raining. Only the main pitch is undercover.

13:56 hrs IST: India has been distracted by the injury to Shikhar Dhawan, who will be out for not only this match but also for the Pakistan and Afghanistan games. However, India have massive depth in KL Rahul, Vijay Shankar and Rishabh Pant has also been flown in as a cover.
13:46 hrs IST: The covers are being rolled up slowly. However, there is a threat of drizzle in the near future. Some areas of Nottingham are reporting rain.
13:37 hrs IST: Live visuals from the ground show that it is cloudy and the covers are still on. However, there is NO rain.
13:32 hrs IST: India have signalled to the world that they can repeat their heroics of 1983 and 2011 with a vital win against Australia. In fact, the interesting trivia is whenever India have won against Australia in the World Cups, they have gone the distance except in 1987 when they were knocked out in the semi-finals.
13:23 hrs IST: New Zealand and India have clashed three times in the World Cup in England and New Zealand has won all three games. In 1975, 1979 and 1999, New Zealand has won all three clashes.
13:06 hrs IST: Firstly, here is the good news. The rain threat for the game has lessened. It was 80 percent today but now it has come down to 50 percent. As the day progresses, the chances of rain lessen. That is a big relief for the cricket fans.

13:00 hrs IST: A warm welcome to the match in Trent Bridge, Nottingham. It is the match between two teams who are undefeated. India are on a roll after beating Australia but they will not be taking New Zealand lightly. They lost to the Kiwis in the warm-up and they will be aware of the threat Kane Williamson's side possess, having never won against them in World Cup contests in England.
