New Delhi:

The year 2019 has certainly brought some fresh air for India’s wicket-keeper bastman, Mahendra Singh Dhoni. MS, who struggled to get runs under his belt in 2018, is looking in different touch altogether. Having bagged ‘Man of the series’ award against Australia in the series Down Under, Dhoni has continued his fine run in the World Cup warm-up games.

Although this was not an official game, Dhoni has achieved several personal milestones with this ton. This is one of his fastest centuries in the India colours and the first one while playing overseas. He showed great intent right throughout his knock and scored at a fair strike rate. He didn’t look to hang around for long periods of time and brought out timely big shots.

The wicketkeeper-batsman scored 113 runs off 78 balls in an innings that included 8 fours and 7 sixes. He took just 73 balls to get to his hundred and also was great towards the end of the innings. He provided the team with the much-needed impetus which helped propel them past the 350-run mark which is usually a huge psychological advantage. Apart from all this, MS Dhoni was involved in an extremely funny incident as well.

Part-time spinner Sabbir Rahman was tasked to bowl the 40th over of the Indian innings. MS Dhoni, who was on strike, observed some irregularities in the field. One of the fielders, who was supposed to stand in the short squarish fine-leg region was out of his position. The former Indian skipper was quick to point this mistake out and tried assisting the bowler. Sabbir was clearly embarrassed after this incident and asked the fielder to move to his actual position. MSD and KL Rahul, as well as the umpire, shared a good laugh after this.
