After the Indian team stepped onto the field against Sri Lanka in Headingly in Leeds, all eye were on Ravindra Jadeja, who replaced Mohammad Shami into the playing XI. Jadeja, who remained on the side lines for first eight games – finally – got a chance in the last league game for India in World Cup 2019.

Interestingly, his selection was met with a loud cheer among fans, who eagerly wanted to see him in the Blues after his spat with Manjrekar on Twitter.

Seeing his position in the team currently, the Indian batsman turned commentator, Sanjay Manjrekar termed him as ‘bits and pieces player’. While commentating in a World Cup game, he said, “I am not a big fan of bits and pieces players which Jadeja is at this point of his career in 50-over cricket. In Test matches, he is a pure bowler. But in 50-over cricket, I would rather have a batsman and a spinner.”

Manjrekar statement came into the limelight and even hit the ears of Ravindra Jadeja himself who couldn’t control his emotions and lashed Manjrekar. To get his statement heard, Ravindra Jadeja took to the twitter said, “Still I have played twice the number of matches you have played and I’m still playing. Learn to respect ppl who have achieved. I have heard enough of your verbal diarrhoea (diarrhea).”

Come Saturday, cricket fans in India were more interested in a Jadeja vs Manjrekar clash rather than the team's final group stage encounter with the Lankans. To make things more popcorn-worthy, the broadcasters constantly had the cameras stuck on Jadeja and cricketer turned commentator Sanjay Manjrekar.
