Rohit Sharma has always had memorable moments against Australia when it comes to his cricketing career. His first double century came against Australia in 2013 and he has the most centuries in his ODI career against Australia. Rohit has also amassed other records in his career and in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 clash against Australia at the Kennington Oval, the Mumbai right-hander notched up yet another milestone. Rohit became the fourth player to score 2000 runs in ODIs against Australia. Sachin Tendulkar is the leading run-getter with 3077 runs at an average of 44.57 with nine centuries. With Shikhar Dhawan batting aggressively, Rohit was content on playing second fiddle. The batsman pushed legspinner Adam Zampa to long off for a single and he became the fastest to 2000 runs against Australia, achieving the feat in just his 37th game

Apart from Tendulkar, Sir Vivian Richards and Desmond Haynes of the West Indies are the others to have gone past 2000 runs. Haynes has scored 2262 runs while Richards has a tally of 2187 runs with Richards averaging just over 50. When it comes to the average, Rohit has a staggering average of 61.87.

Rohit also has a feat is a new record in world cricket. His tally of sixes hit against Australia is 69, which is the second-most by any batsmen against a single opposition. Rohit broke the previous world record held by Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi, who blasted 63 sixes in ODIs against Sri Lanka. While Afridi took 72 games to hit 63 sixes, Rohit has achieved the feat in a staggering 35 games. Chris Gayle has the most number of sixes against an opposition with 84 in 35 games.

Rohit has also hit a total of 27 sixes in Australia, which is the most in a single country. Even here, he beat the previous record of 25 held by Shahid Afridi but he shattered AB de Villiers’s record of 26 against India in India. His fifth century in Australia was also the joint-most by a visiting player in Australia, matching Kumar Sangakkara. His tally of seven hundreds is the second-most by a batsman in ODIs against Australia behind Sachin Tendulkar’s nine.
