It will be an epic day at Indian Premier League today as Gujarat Lions skipper Suresh Raina will miss a match. It will be for the first time when, Raina will miss any match in the cash-rich IPL. Since, its inception the stylish left hander was associated with Chennai Super Kings and played under MS Dhoni. But this year, after the CSK was suspended for two years, Raina was forced to play for the new franchise.
Suresh Raina is now in the Netherlands for the birth of his first child. Raina married childhood friend Priyanka in April last year. Raina, has played 138 matches and scored 3699 runs for Chennai and 286 runs for the Lions so far.
Not only that, Raina will miss an IPL milestone as he is just 15 runs shy of becoming the first batsman to score 4,000 runs in IPL.
Gujarat have won 7 matches out of 11 played and with 14 points sitting on second place.
