IPL 2016: Virat surpasses Gayle to became high run scorer

It’s been gala time for Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli as he amassed another record in ongoing Indian Premier League during the match against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden gardens. Kohli, scored unbeaten 75 off 51 balls to surpass Chris Gayle’s record of 733 runs in a single edition.

 It’s been gala time for Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli as he amassed another record in ongoing Indian Premier League during the match against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden gardens. Kohli, scored unbeaten 75 off 51 balls to surpass Chris Gayle’s record of 733 runs in a single edition.

 The West Indian southpaw in 2012 scored 733 runs in 14 inning which was equalled by Chennai Super Kings' Michael Hussey the following year in 17 innings.  The stylish right hand batsman achieved the feat in just 12 innings. Now Kohli's tally after 12 matches stands at 752 runs.

 Not only this, the Indian’s Test skipper earlier broke the record of Robin Uthappa for most runs by an Indian. He also become the first batsman to hit three centuries in a single edition. Kohli, also became the first skipper to score 500 runs in three seasons to surpass Sachin Tendulkar.With 6 wins out of 12 matches Royals are in 5th place of the points table and have to win all their matches to qualify for play-offs.
