Indian Premier League 2018 introduced the mid-season transfers for the first time this season. The mini five-day transfer window has been inspired by the league football played all across the world.
The transfer window was introduced to help franchise replace players who have not been used or does not fit to their plans.
However, none of the teams seem very interested in the mid-season transfer window as none of the IPL outfits have made any moves to replace any of their squad players.
The window has been active since Match no. 28 and will be open till Match 42.
The window is active for uncapped and capped players. But the capped players who have played a role in more than two matches are ineligible for trading.
“There are few grey areas. A number of franchises already have 25 players in the squad, so they are unlikely to make use of this mid-season loan transfer,” an official of a franchise told a leading daily.
“If a big name was available we would have looked into it, but the current lot doesn’t peak our interest,” another franchise official added.
Big name players like David Willey, Moeen Ali, Carlos Brathwaite, Parthiv Patel and Adam Milne can be picked up by other franchises as they have not participated in a single game yet.
There is still some time to go before the transfer window shuts, so it will be interesting to see which team end up trading their player(s).
