The love displayed by the Indian cricket fans towards MS Dhoni is simply legendary. There are people who are willing to go to any lengths to come near Dhoni. The aura of the former Indian cricket team skipper is reflected in how fans love Chennai Super Kings and how they love to sport the famous No.7 yellow jersey in every IPL game. In the past, there have been fans who have breached the tight security at the stadium to run towards Dhoni and touch his feet. In the game against Delhi Capitals at the Feroz Shah Kotla, a similar incident was witnessed.
Chennai Super Kings needed 22 runs off three overs and the tension was mounting. However, Dhoni, in his typical calmness, he creamed a cover drive off Keemo Paul and sealed the game in grand style by hammering Amit Mishra straight down the ground for a big six. When Dwayne Bravo pulled a short ball from Kagiso Rabada to the fine leg fence, Chennai Super Kings had sealed a win by six wickets. Immediately after the win, two fans breached the security and ran towards Dhoni to touch his feet. One fan ran from the Mohinder Amarnath stand and managed to get close to Dhoni. The fan managed to touch his feet and he was immediately escorted away by security.
At the same time, one more fan managed to climb the barricade beside the Mohinder Amarnath stand and he too managed to touch Dhoni’s feet. Unlike previous instances, Dhoni did not attempt to dodge and he tapped the youngster’s back as security grabbed him and took him away.
This is not the first time that fans have shown their adulation and admiration for Dhoni. In the Ranchi ODI against Australia, one fan escaped the security and ran towards Dhoni. However, the former India skipper was in a playful mood and he ran and dodged the fan. Dhoni showed his superhuman speed and the fan could not catch him. However, he slowed down and the fan caught him near the playing strip.
In the practice game for Chennai Super Kings before the start of the IPL, another fan attempted to catch Dhoni and once again he was in a playful mood. Dhoni used bowling coach L Balaji as a shield as he managed to dodge the fan again. In the 2018 IPL, during the clash against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens, a fan came up and touched Dhoni’s feet.
The expression of the two fans at the Kotla has proven one thing – Dhoni is OFFICIALLY god.
