Chennai Super Kings have chosen to bowl against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Parthiv Patel smashed an aggressive fifty and a cameo from Moeen Ali helped Virat Kohli's team reach 161/7 at the end of 20 overs. In response, Chennai Super Kings lost wickets at regular intervals but it needed something special from MS Dhoni. The Chennai Super Kings skipper blasted 84 runs and kept the match interestingly poised. The final over was spectacular with Dhoni blasting 4,6,6,2,6 against Umesh Yadav to boil the equation down to two off one ball. However, Dhoni missed a slower ball and Shardul Thakur was run-out as Royal Challengers Bangalore won by one run. The win ended Chennai Super Kings' seven-match winning streak against Kohli's side and it was Royal Challengers Bangalore's first win against Chennai Super Kings since 2014. (SCORECARD)

00:01 hrs IST: Unbelievable! Simply unbelievable! MS Dhoni has shown he is a frak. He blasts 4,6,6,2,6 and boils the equation down in the final over to 2 off one ball bowled by Umesh Yadav. However, on the last ball, Dhoni missed and tried to sneak a bye as Chennai Super Kings looked to take it to the super over but Shardul Thakur was run-out and Chennai Super Kings lost by one run. This is Royal Challengers Bangalore's first win against Chennai Super Kings since 2014.

23:48 hrs IST: Dwayne Bravo falls and Chennai Super Kings need 26 off the last over. Even for Dhoni's brilliance at the death, it is too far one feels.

23:41 hrs IST: MS Dhoni reaches 4000 runs as captain in IPL and he brings up his fifty by blasting Steyn into the stands at deep midwicket. Chennai Super Kings are hanging in there but only just.

23:35 hrs IST: Ravindra Jadeja sacrifices his wicket as he is run-out. Superb bowling from Navdeep Saini and Chennai Super Kings ned 49 off 18 balls.

23:30 hrs IST: MS Dhoni breaks the shackles and spoils Yuzvendra Chahal's figures by blasting a six straight down the ground. Chennai Super Kings need 57 off 24 balls.

23:18 hrs IST: Rayudu falls as Chahal strikes again. The task has become even more difficult for Chennai Super Kings now. Dhoni and Jadeja have to get going now as there are only six overs remaining.

23:11 hrs IST: The partnership between Rayudu and Dhoni has reached 50 and Rayudu hammers a six off Umesh Yadav. Chennai Super Kings are still in the hunt as the Hyderabad right-hander hits another boundary but the asking rate is still over 10.

23:02 hrs IST: Dhoni comes down the track and blasts a six off Marcus Stoinis as Chennai Super Kings need less than 100.

22:59 hrs IST: At the half-way stage, Chennai Super Kings' required rate has jumped to over 10. Royal Challengers Bangalore are still in this but they have power players in Dhoni, Dwayne Bravo and Ravindra Jadeja at the bottom.

22:46 hrs IST: MS Dhoni gets going with a couple of boundaries and Chennai Super Kings are staying afloat in the contest.

22:34 hrs IST: Kedar Jadhav mistimes the lofted shot off Umesh Yadav and Kohli takes the catch at mid off. Chennai Super Kings stumble even further.

22:31 hrs IST: Kohli loses a review as Jadhav looks to tickle it to fine leg but the ball misses the bat and the glove. Royal Challengers Bangalore have been dominant in the powerplay. Chennai Super Kings face an uphill task.

22:23 hrs IST: WICKET! Faf du Plessis falls and Chennai Super Kings are in real trouble now. Short ball from Umesh Yadav and it climbs up as Faf top-edges the pull shot and is caught by AB de Villiers.

22:13 hrs IST: Brilliant from Saini as he troubles Ambati Rayudu with 150 kmph away swingers. This Royal Challengers Bangalore bowling line-up looks deadly now.

22:09 hrs IST: Brilliant from the Steyn-gun. He gets Shane Watson with an away-swinger and then yorks Suresh Raina for a golden duck by knocking back the off stump.

21:49 hrs IST: Moeen Ali's cameo has helped Royal Challengers Bangalore reach 161/7. However, one feels that this is a slightly sub-par total as the pitch is superb to bat on. Can the bowlers step up and defend this total?

21:40 hrs IST: Moeen Ali digs out a yorker and Royal Challengers Bangalore reach 150. Can they finish on a high and get to 170 or more?

21:35 hrs IST: Two overs remain. Chennai Super Kings have bowled well so far. Can Royal Challengers Bangalore cross 160 and come closer to 170? That will be a good total on this wicket.

21:30 hrs IST: Superb catch by Faf du Plessis and Dhruv Shorey, the substitute. Stoinis mistimed a lofted shot to long on and Faf du Plessis runs to his right close to the boundary, takes the catch but the momentum takes him over the ropes, he flicks the ball back and Shorey backs up well.

21:25 hrs IST: Parthiv clubs a slower ball but he finds the fielder at cover. Can Moeen Ali pull off another sensational innings like the one he did against Kolkata Knight Riders?

21:10 hrs IST: Parthiv nears his fifty as he clobbers Bravo past extra cover for a boundary. Stoinis' promotion is surprising considering how well Moeen Ali did in his previous match.

21:02 hrs IST: Parthiv Patel blasts a googly off Tahir to the deep midwicket stand but Akshdeep Nath falls to Jadeja as he miscues a lofted shot to long off.

20:53 hrs IST: Chennai Super Kings are pulling things back as the current run-rate slips to 7.4.

20:47 hrs IST: Parthiv Patel is making good progress but Chennai Super Kings are slowly building the pressure. The next phase could be crucial in the team reaching a score close to 190.

20:38 hrs IST: Jadeja gets the massive wicket of AB de Villiers. Once again, he falls to a left-arm spinner. Full ball and de Villiers miscues the lofted shot and is caught by Faf near the rope at long off.

20:34 hrs IST: Faf du Plessis nearly pulls off a stunner as de Villiers whacks a full ball to extra cover. The ball is behind du Plessis as he looks to take a leaping, one-handed catch. Parthiv then  hits another six and de Villiers blasts two boundaries as Royal Challengers Bangalore end the powerplay in style.

20:29 hrs IST: De Villiers blasts a six off Shardul Thakur but the bowler comes back in style. Chennai Super Kings are bowling the right channels to the Royal Challengers Bangalore batsmen.

20:24 hrs IST: AB de Villiers begins in style by hammering a boundary to long on while Parthiv Patel blasts a six to rouse the crowd at the M Chinnaswamy stadium.

20:16 hrs IST: Virat Kohli begins steadily with two boundaries but Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur are  employing a wide off stump line. However, Kohli falls for the bait and chases a wide outswinger from Deepak Chahar and the edge is taken by Dhoni. Superb tactics from Dhoni, shows what a brilliant mind he has got.

19:43 hrs IST: Chennai Super Kings have chosen to bowl against Royal Challengers Bangalore. AB de Villiers is back and so is Dwayne Bravo for both the sides. Here are the playing XIs

Chennai Super Kings: Shane Watson, Faf du Plessis, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni(w/c), Kedar Jadhav, Dwayne Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja, Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, Imran Tahir

Royal Challengers Bangalore: Parthiv Patel(w), Virat Kohli(c), AB de Villiers, Akshdeep Nath, Moeen Ali, Marcus Stoinis, Pawan Negi, Dale Steyn, Navdeep Saini, Yuzvendra Chahal, Umesh Yadav

19:32 hrs IST: AB de Villiers is expected to come back but with the arrival of Dale Steyn, the Royal Challengers Bangalore are looking a strong unit. However, can they overcome their bogey against Chennai Super Kings?

19:25 hrs IST: A warm welcome to the Kaveri Derby Part 2. In the first part, a drab track in Chepauk saw Royal Challengers Bangalore fold for 70 and Chennai Super Kings registering a comfortable win. Now, the action shifts to the other side of the Kaveri at the M Chinnaswamy stadium. MS Dhoni is probably back and he will lead Chennai Super Kings. A win for CSK will seal their entry into the knockouts while a loss for Kohli's side virtually ends their chances of entering the play-offs.
