India@Rio Olympics 2016, Day 2: Dipa Karmakar qualifies for vault finals, no medal for India

In her maiden Olympic Games, Gymnast Dipa Karmakar made her way to Vault finals, ending at No. 8 spot in the qualifying round. It was disappointing for India after the Indian women's archery team crashed out in Quarters against  Russia in a shoot-off while the hockey squad fought back to hold Japan to a draw on day two of the Rio Games.

Dipa Karmakar rewrites history 

Gymnastics: Dipa Karmakar makes her Olympic debut with a score of 15.100 on Vault in Artistic Gymnastics. She scores 12.866 on Balance beam and 11.666 in uneven bar exercise and finished 27th. In her maiden Olympic Games, Gymnast Dipa Karmakar through to Vault finals after she ended No. 8 in the qualifying round. 

Hockey: India Women finished their first match 2-2 against Japan and now they will play Great Britain in the second encounter.  

Shooting: After Day 1 of Men's Trap qualification Manavjit Singh Sandhu at 17th and Kynan Chenai at 19th position 

Archery: Indian Women's Archery Team beats Colombia in Pre-Quarters to reach Quarters. Now they will play Russia in Quarter finals. 

Shooting:  Heena Sidhu finishes with 380 and out of the race for a final berth 

It’s the Day 2 of the 31^st Olympics Games and India is scheduled to play Women’s Hockey, Archery pre-quarters, Women's 10m Air Pistol, Men's Trap and in Gymnastics Dipa Karmakar will debut for India.
